Autism Awareness Amongst Muslims, The Khutba

It is a great pleasure to me to see that religious leaders are taking initiative to speak about special needs individuals, as well as they backing up their speech with the teaching of the Qur’an and hadits. In this lecture, the speaker, Sh. Yassir Fazaga made sure to emphasize, that if anyone different from the rest of the population doesn’t mean that is punishment from God, like many claims.

This lecture  gave knowledge to those who are completely ignorant about special needs problems, or have little knowledge, or even loosing hope regards to special need matters.

He singled out autism in this case, which was a long overdue issue to be discussed in the Muslims communities .

Shk. Hasan  from Texas, wrote a beautiful article about autism for an upcoming book that will be published by Greenbird  publishing in England, and all proceedings will be going toward autism awareness.

Now, Sh. Yassir Fazaga gives us a beautiful speech what is our responsibilities should be toward these individuals, as well as toward their parents/caretakers.

I encourage you all to watch this short video-clip, and forward it to families with special need children as well as other members of the community.

Also, I encourage you all to please ask your religious leaders to talk about this issues, b/c our communities still have so much to do for these families.

I want to thank Sh. Hassan and  Sh. Yassir Fazaga in public for pioneering in this road to make awareness amongst us about special need issues, and reassure others that this religion by no means condemn the ones who are the most needy for our help, understanding, patience and love.
